wearing remnants from a 2016 trio called light/weight - a score that unfolds through a series of improvisational structures with three people practicing togetherness through physical embrace - this new solo approaches the score through my memory of being in the studio with others I've been intimately creative with.
Wearing and repurposing pieces of my collaborators’ costumes reminds me of the possibilities when being in contact with others. This pandemic reveals how precious we are, how little time we have, and what skin to skin contact, shared sweat and labor, can produce for collective imagining and futures.
Covering my face is at once a protective shield, and also derivative of the many ways I’d use clothing as a child to manifest long hair, a way to enact my femme-self during my early queer questioning adolescence.
